What to expect
Every client’s skin responds differently to these treatments, and this information acts as a guideline only.
-Waxing or brow shaping should be done at least 2 days before.
-Tinting should be done at least 3 days prior to your appointment if you wish for your microblading to be matched to your brow tint.
-Lamination should be done at least 3 weeks before. If unsure of your natural eyebrow shape, let your hair grow. I will shape them accordingly upon your approval.
-Avoid tanning 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
-DO NOT come to your appointment with a sunburn on your forehead, flaking skin around your eyebrows, blemishes or rash.
-In this case, email us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to reschedule.
-If you are or have been on antibiotics within the last 2 weeks, email us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to reschedule.
-All facials & skin treatments (peel, laser, micro needling, etc.) must be done at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
-Botox & fillers should be done at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
-Stop using retinol, vitamin A, glycolic acids, & exfoliants 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
-Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen or any medication that thins the blood 48 hours prior to your appointment.
-Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined. This will last 3-5 days. Do not panic!
This is normal.
-Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24-48 hours. In some cases, it may last around the eyebrow area for up to 3 days, but will not prevent working or socializing.
-The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards but there should only be minimal discomfort. If you have symptoms of infection such as major redness, swelling, fever, pain, red streaks going from the procedure site toward the heart, you must seek medical care.
-When washing your face, avoid using soaps or cleansers on the treated area. Only use lukewarm water to clean your eyebrows for the first week.
-Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattooed area.Keep the tattooed area clean by rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry with a disposable paper towel morning & night for the first 10 days.
-You may start using a gentle face cleanser on your brow after 10 days.
-Avoid any kind of moisturizer, oil and Vaseline for the first 2 weeks. Only apply a very small amount of the provided ointment in the morning after cleaning the eyebrows with lukewarm water. Apply using a disposable cotton swab. The goal is to have your tattoo flake off naturally, rather than form into large scabs. You may use the ointment for the first 7 days.
-Avoid sweating, such as exercise, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, hot showers for 5-7 days following your cosmetic tattoo appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you MUST clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in the sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and could give poor results.
-DO NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Chemicals of any kind may interfere with the healing and color of your tattoo.Avoid direct sun exposure for the first 14 days. You MUST wear a hat while outside during the healing process.
-Avoid swimming for the first 14 days. Chlorine and salt water can be detrimental to the pigment.
-DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. During the flaking process, your eyebrows may look patchy as not all strokes will flake off at once. The complete healing process takes about 4 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 4 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6 weeks that your follow up appointment can be done. Keep in mind that microbladed brows healed up to 30% softer than the initial color.
-Once your eyebrows are completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment.
